What I’m Most Thankful For as a Maryland Realtor | Gratitude & Homeownership

Discover what Maryland Realtor® Kat Moore is most thankful for — and why homebuyers should feel grateful, too. A heartfelt, funny, and real look at what makes a house a home.

🍂 The Season of Gratitude (and Strong Coffee)

Every November, I try to take a short break from open houses, inspections, and paperwork to remember what really matters — besides coffee, of course.

Being a Realtor® gives me a front-row seat to life’s biggest milestones: new jobs, new families, new chapters. And even after years in this business, I still feel incredibly thankful each time someone holds those new house keys for the first time.

So, in the spirit of Thanksgiving, here’s what I’m most thankful for as a Realtor — and what every homebuyer (and homeowner) might be thankful for, too.

💛 1. Thankful for Trust

Every real estate transaction is built on trust. My clients let me into their homes, their finances, and sometimes even their chaos — kids, pets, moving boxes, and all.

That trust means the world to me, and it’s why I take this job personally. I don’t just help people buy or sell; I help them move their lives forward.

For homebuyers, here’s something to be thankful for: finding an agent who truly listens, communicates, and looks out for your best interests — not just the sale.

“Trust is like good Wi-Fi. When it’s strong, everything works smoothly.”

🔍 2. Thankful for Second Chances (and Inspections That Teach Lessons)

Let’s be honest — not every deal goes perfectly. There’s always that one inspection that reveals more surprises than a haunted house in October. But every hiccup teaches me something new about patience, problem-solving, and persistence.

And here’s the truth: sometimes the deal that doesn’t happen leads to the home that was meant for you all along.

“The house that falls through often makes room for the one that truly feels like home.”

Buyers, be thankful for those detours. They usually lead you right where you belong.

🌳 3. Thankful for Community

From Severn to all of Anne Arundel, Howard, Prince George's County, and Southern Maryland — every closing reminds me that community is the real heart of Maryland.

I’ve watched neighborhoods grow, schools thrive, and families finally plant roots after years of serving our country or moving from base to base. That sense of belonging is what makes a house feel like home.

So, whether you’ve lived here for years or you just unpacked your last moving box, take a moment to appreciate your community — the friendly wave from your neighbor, the local coffee shop that knows your order, the small businesses that keep our towns alive.

🔄 4. Thankful for Change (Even When It’s Scary)

The real estate market changes faster than fall weather — interest rates rise, inventory shifts, and algorithms try to tell us what our homes are worth.

But here’s the silver lining: change brings opportunity. Every market, no matter how challenging, creates space for something new — and that’s exciting.

“If 2025 has taught us anything, it’s to keep our coffee strong and our mindset stronger.”

Buyers and sellers alike can be thankful for change. It means new possibilities, new beginnings, and sometimes, the chance to finally make your move.

🏠 5. Thankful for the Journey

At the end of the day, I’m thankful for every client who trusted me, every home that taught me a lesson, and every family who let me be part of their story.

Whether you’re just starting your search or getting ready to sell, take a moment this season to look around your home and say:

“Wow… this is mine.”

Because that’s what real estate — and gratitude — is really about.

🤍 Kat's Closing Thoughts

If you’re thinking about buying or selling before the new year, now’s a wonderful time to make it happen. The market might be quieter, but the opportunities are still bright.

Let’s take that next step together — with gratitude, a bit of humor, and a strong cup of coffee in hand.
